Super Bowl 2020 Commercial
Everyone was getting ready for the Super Bowl parties last Sunday,
February 2.
Most people don’t even know who was playing. Is the game that important? Yes. But the ads and the halftime show are the real attraction of the Super Bowl.
To be honest, I did not hear anybody talking about the score of the game, but the next day when I get to work everyone was commenting about the ads and the halftime show.
That just emphasizes how marketing is powerful! Gotta love marketing. The way that they advertise the Super Bowl is focused on giving more importance and attention to the ads and the show than the game.
The famous Super Bowl battle of ads scored 99.9 Million TV viewers according to the Los Angeles Times. It was the biggest increase since 2015. This means that deciding to invest in Super Bowl advertisements this year yielded fantastic benefits for those brands that chose to participate.
Brands that were in the Super Bowl ads in 2020:
Amazon | Audi | Avocados from Mexico | Bud Light | Budweiser Cheetos Coca-Cola | Discover Disney | Donald Trump | Doritos Facebook - showing the groups feature | General Motors
Google - showing the virtual assistance feature | Hard Rock International Heinz | Hyundai | Jeep | Kia | Little Caesars | Marvel Studios
Michael Bloomberg (the political battle during Super Bowl was news for everyone. It just cost more than $11 million for a 60-second ad, according to The Business Insider)
Microsoft | Minions | Mtn Dew | New York Life | NFL | Olay | P&G Pepsi Planters | Pop-Tarts | Porsche | Pringles | Quibi | Quichen |Loans | Reese’s Sabra | Snickers | SodaStream | Squarespace | Tide | T-Mobile | Toyota TurboTax | Turkish Airlines | Ultra | Universal| Verizon | Walmart | WeatherTech
We know that each commercial can cost as much as $5.6 Million for 30-seconds. I really would like to know how much total money was raised from commercials with the Super Bowl in 2020. Any guesses?
If you had a company, would you spend $5.6 Million on a 30-second commercial? Or use this resource to make different marketing campaigns?
Brands that skipped the ads this year:
Burger King
Mint Mobile
Skechers
Sony
Stela Artois
Wix
All those brands decided that this year they preferred to spend the money with other marketing campaigns and different strategies.
In the past four years, Super Bowl views have dropped by a lot. Nowadays people prefer to see the highlights of the game on the internet (YouTube, twitter) than spend four hours watching the game. Plus, a lot of people have been opting out of cable. It contributes to the drop in the number of people that watch TV.
